The
purpose of our Top 5 is to give a more up-to-date, short-term
ranking than the Official World rankings. Our rankings are
more in the spirit of the college football polls, which attempt to
give a snapshot rating at a given point in time; and are designed to either recognize those who are actually
playing the best golf, or those we feel have the
best chance to win the next time they tee it up.
*Preserve Golf does not
recognize players who use elongated putters in its rankings.
According to the most recent information we had, both Vijay Singh
and Sergio Garcia were
using elongated putters. If either player uses a traditional
length putter in the PGA, they will achieve their listed ranking,
and each player will be moved down one space below the position of
the person in question. A player ranked #5 in such a circumstance
would be knocked out of the Top 5.
